Structural calculations for a multi-storey steel frame with horizontal T-connections, carried out for the owners’ association on the Wattlaan

For the owners’ association on the Wattlaan, we carried out the structural calculations for an extensive steel frame spread over several storeys. The project centred on a precise structural analysis, with particular attention to the stability of the steelwork and the correct transfer of loads to the foundations.

The steel frame consists of several storeys that are structurally connected both vertically and horizontally. T-connections were used in the horizontal plane, giving efficient force distribution and additional stability within the main load-bearing structure.

The calculations took into account various load combinations, including permanent and variable actions and the associated safety factors in accordance with the applicable Eurocodes. Using RFEM and IDEA StatiCa, the steel structure, connections and joints were analysed and checked for strength, stiffness and stability.

Throughout the engineering process, we worked closely with the parties involved to match the structural solutions as closely as possible to the existing situation and the association’s wishes. The result is a reliable, future-proof steel structure with a solid basis for long-term use.
