Structural advice on how to account for the stiffening provided by sheathing on a timber frame, for a self-builder.
At Vondelstraat 5 in Voorschoten, we designed an opening with web stiffeners in the span and at the supports. To reduce the governing bearing stress, the bearing plate was made wider than the IPE section.
At Blois van Treslongstraat 45 in The Hague, a wall opening was carried out. Horizontal forces also had to be resisted, for which Hilti anchors were used, so that the columns of the portal frame could be pin-connected to the beam.
At Dassenrade 11 in The Hague, we designed a roof extension.
At Meerweg 22 in Berkel en Rodenrijs, we designed a dormer. With such short spans, the point load governs the bending moment.
At Nieuwe Kerkstraat 12-14 in Rotterdam, we designed three wall openings.
