Renovation of Muziekcentrum Vredenburg
On the open building day on 1 June, the public could visit the renovation of Muziekcentrum Vredenburg in Utrecht.
During construction, the contractor discovered remains of Vredenburg Castle. Because this is a listed national monument, the contractor had to build around it. The building services contractor also had to change all their plans at a late stage. The basement floor slopes for drainage. The contractor explained that the underwater concrete therefore also had to slope, which was not easy.
The four concert halls are separated by expansion joints, so that no structure-borne sound can pass from one hall to another.
